Coaching is a journey of learning which can vary in length and may encounter different paths on the way.
By recognising the short term and long term goals agreed an increase in level can be made
Positive cognitive activity will be encouraged to allow the rider to work productively alone.
Lateral Thinking / Flexibility:
When things inevitably don’t go right, encouraging contingency plans should be in place and time appropriate. When things do go right rewards that keep motivation should be given to horse and / or rider
Without destroying innovation, realism is essential and should reflect the current level of horse and rider
Be prepared to adapt to physical and behavioural changes
Adhere at all times to coaching codes of conduct in the name of fairness and equality to everyone coached
